Cartons used for stacking need to keep the package stable in the warehouse and during delivery. The class number is just a piece of information; Paper, corrugation, size and binding affect the result.
Starting from the package and stacking height
Record the weight of the whole package, size after protective layer, number of layers and stacking time. Indicates whether shelves, floors or pallets are used and humidity conditions. The interior row may support the crate wall or create a deflection load.
Distinguish the size of the inside of the box for storing goods with the outside size for calculating loading. The specification needs to record each dimension, unit and method of measurement.
See paper and corrugated with the same number of layers
When comparing three-layer or five-layer boxes, ask clearly about surface paper, corrugated paper and texture type. Choosing according to the load-bearing target instead of defaulting to multiple layers is always better.
| Conditions of use | Points to discuss |
|---|---|
| Heavy goods concentrated in one area | Bottom, insert and how to distribute the load |
| Stack high in warehouse | Compression requirements of bales |
| Open for regular pickup | Lid style and closure method |
| Many transit times | Protects corners, edges and row stability |
FEFCO has methods for testing materials and cartons, including compression. The test method helps to unify the assessment, but does not confirm that a sample has met the required load.
Browse both tape and stacking directions
Test the package with enough goods, insert and tape according to the actual stacking direction. Observe the bottom when lifting, the walls when folding and the lid when closing. If the row creates a misaligned load, review the layout before increasing the paper.
Fasten the top, labels and grip points. Handle holes, if any, need to be included in the structure. With pallets, agree on diagrams and limits with the person in charge of transportation.
Save sample records according to test conditions
Save box code, paper structure, product set, packing method and test conditions. Capture the deformed position for a more informed adjustment. Changing goods or arrangements requires reviewing old results.
The sagging bottom due to concentrated load and the compressed wall when stacked high are two different errors. One defect needs to see load distribution, the other needs to evaluate compression resistance; Should not be handled in the same emotional way.
