The high percentage of paper is not enough to conclude that packaging is recyclable everywhere. For the EU market, it is necessary to see what the finished products include and how they are collected, classified, and processed.
Record all ingredients on paper
Record coating, glue, ink, handle, window, magnet and tray with paper. Determine location, volume and method of removal when possible. Ask what appraisals the buyer requires for the selling market.
Distinguish between source certification and recyclability
FSC is concerned with the sourcing of materials and the tracking of materials through the certified supply chain. The FSC label does not replace evidence of the recyclability of the finished packaging. The use of labels must meet the system's conditions.
| Content to be published | Basis to see |
|---|---|
| Material source | Proper source records and chain of custody |
| Recycled content | Confirm components for correct material code |
| Recyclability | Evaluate market configuration and conditions |
Prepare for the PPWR roadmap
PPWR has its own roadmap for recyclability and performance criteria. It is necessary to review Article 6 and guide its application for each case, instead of concluding only from the date of general application.
Favor easily separable structures when useful
An easy-to-remove accessory can aid in sorting after use. However, the alternative must still meet the requirements for opening and closing and protecting the product; Ease of removal does not necessarily mean it has passed the recycling rating.
Save component lists, samples and versions for comparison when new requirements arise. Use specific claims only to the extent that there is evidence for the correct product and market.
Send SquareBag specifications and EU customer requirements to check ingredients and prepare necessary data.
