Brown kraft paper color affects the visible print color. A color approved on screen or white paper may be different when converted to kraft. If you want to control your brand color, you need to fix the paper first and then test the print on that background.
Choose a reusable reference template
Keep the approved color sample along with the paper code, printing method and finish. Submit brand color guide if available. Phone photos help communicate location and composition, but should not be the sole basis for color acceptance.
Evaluate your options before finalizing
| Plan | Things to check |
|---|---|
| Keep brown kraft | Contrast and background color variation |
| Choose a white background | Print color and material feel difference |
| Add background ink if applicable | Machine capabilities, coverage, cost and machining |
You can keep the brown background, choose a white background or use background ink if technology allows. Each method needs to be tested for coverage, contrast, cost and impact on processing; It is not assumed that all machines can do the same thing.
Browse under uniform viewing conditions
Place the samples side by side under steady light. See both the large array of colors and the small text. If using color measuring equipment, agree on the standard sample, method and acceptable deviation level before production.
With light blue branding on white boxes, kraft bags may require a separately approved color version. This way is clearer than continuing to increase the ink but still not achieving the desired feeling.
Keep records for future bookings
Save the template, paper code, approval date and final design file. When changing papers or coatings, recheck the color as the old sample may no longer be representative.
Does separate color ink resolve any discrepancies?
Individual color inks are still influenced by the paper background and surface. The results on the new end material are a suitable reference sample.
