Keeping gift boxes for storage is different from retrieving packaging for multiple packaging and deliveries. Before increasing durability or announcing reuse, businesses need to determine who reuses them, what they use them for, and whether they will be recalled or not.
Determine who will reuse it and what it will be used for
If the recipient keeps the box, priority should be given to convenient opening and closing and a form suitable for long-term use. If the business recalls, there needs to be a process for receiving, inspecting, cleaning when necessary, and disposing of unsatisfactory boxes.
| Model | Things to evaluate |
|---|---|
| The recipient keeps the box | Purpose of continued use and opening and closing experience |
| One turn exchange | How to close, insert and instructions |
| Revolving system | Recall, inspection, logistics and number of rounds passed |
Test durability according to the situation
Try according to purpose: open and close many times to store items or go through delivery rounds. Record deformation, scratches and remaining functions. A sample that has been opened several times has not proven its durability when transported multiple times.
The box that keeps the accessories at home may still be good, but the shipping label is repeatedly damaged when rotated. If you change the model, you need to design your own label area and inspection method.
Measure return rates before claiming benefits
More durable packaging can use additional materials. Benefits depend on number of uses, recovery rate and actual processing effort. Environmental impact should not be concluded solely from theoretical reusability.
Distinguish between continued use and legal requirements
PPWR has its own criteria for reusable packaging. The fact that a customer keeps a box does not by itself prove that it meets those requirements; Cases entering the EU need to be confirmed according to a specific model.
